“HEALING HEART”
Psalm 147:3
36x48

“Healing Heart” was born out of an idea I had after I created my second mosaic piece and following a conversation with Chaplain Rob at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano.  I knew I was going to create a cross and wanted to convey a message at the same time.  As the art project started to form right before my eyes, it became very clear to me that this piece was going to convey a message to all who walked through the doors of THE HEART HOSPITAL.  I then placed a heart in the middle of the cross with Psalm 147:3 in mind:  “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” thus the name of this piece “Healing Heart.”  I want our guests and their family members to interpret the message conveyed in this piece, but I also hope that they “feel” the very caring touch the staff provides during their stay at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano.

“Dragon Fly” is a portrait I created in hopes to bring a healing message to a family who lost a member of their family.  The dragonfly represents the deceased boy. The dragonflies blue eyes represent the boys blue eyes, the first set of wings is gold for his blonde hair and the second set of wings for the angel’s wings he now has.
The dragonfly sentimentally represents the dragon flies that were hovering over the burial site.

“Lighthouse” is a portrait that has a lighthouse representing Christ as he is the light of this world. The red stripes represents Christ's blood shed for us; the white stripes represents Christ’s purity.
The three sailboats represents three brothers each having a different colored flag which represents each brother’s birth stone.  The top of the lighthouse in purple represents Royalty and the walkway leading to the door represents Gold.  Lastly, the dove represents the Holy Spirit. (This was given to my mother)

Purple Heart is a Portrait created for a friend of mine that wanted to give a special gift to a dear friend of hers who lost her husband to Cancer in 2006.  I learned that the deceased was given the “Purple Heart” for his bravery while serving in Vietnam.  I immediately new what this cross would depict;  Chivalry and Heroism.  I think this portrait portrays a husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He stood for these 7 Pillars:  Courage, Justice, Mercy, Generosity, Faith, Nobility and Hope.

"Grumpy Bear"

Here recently, I was asked by the YMCA Adventure Guides to create a portrait for a family that had lost a loved one here recently.  “Grumpy Bear” and his daughter were apart of the Adventure Guides at the YMCA (Dad n Daughter Program).  As I worked on this project, I was choked up especially when sealing the “Red Feather” which symbolizes the Dad n Daughter experience in the Program. When the daughter reaches 3rd grade, there is a final ceremony where the Dad presents the daughter with a Red Feather.  My hope is that this portrait conveys a healling message to the mom and daughter.  The big boot and longhorn with Texas Flag Colors and Star is in commemoration of “Grumpy Bear” as he was described to me as a big burly Cowboy that loved the Texas Flag and Colors.

This year, I had the privilege of creating a mosaic portrait for the Dallas Margarita Society.  The Dallas Margarita Society, Inc., (d/b/a. Dallas Children's Charities) was formed in 1977 when a small group of business acquaintances decided to host a holiday party for associates and friends. The Society is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is twofold. The first is to provide disadvantaged Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex children with gifts at Christmas time and the second is to help those community organizations that work with underprivileged children throughout the year.  Here is the website: http://www.dallasmargaritasociety.org/

This is a portrait of a Cross with a pair of scissors in the center symbolizing a gift/talent a friend has.  All that we are and all that we do should be Christ centered giving thanks each and every day.

Rev 3:18: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Deuteronomy 1:29-31
Then I said to you, "Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place." I was commissioned to create this for a new friend of mine that has 3 sons whom he loves dearly and wanted to convey this.  The "C" represents the first letter of the last name with the "3" representing 3 sons.

Acts 10:34, 35,42 and 43
34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.  42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
